Silky
Oaks Lodge
Daintree
Rainforest
Nestled on the edge of the Mossman
Gorge in the Daintree Rainforest, Silky Oaks Lodge
is the Daintree's ultimate resort where this rare wilderness can
be enjoyed in elegance and ease.
From the moment you arrive at Silky Oaks, you feel the aura of the Daintree. Vast and pristine, it is the oldest living rainforest on Earth. The Lodge itself overlooks a lagoon so idyllic it has no equal for natural beauty, supreme comfort and ease of access. There's also the added comfort of knowing you've chosen the perfect base to explore the Tropical North Queensland region.
With Port Douglas only 20 minutes away, our morning drop off and afternoon pick ups provide opportunities to explore the many boutiques, restaurants and shops of this coastal town.
Ride the scenic railway through the Barron Gorge, cruise along the
Daintree River, visit the Great Barrier Reef or Cape Tribulation.
It's all within easy reach of Silky Oaks, but don't be surprised
if it becomes more tempting to leave the tourist spots to the tourists.
Once you settle in at the Lodge, you simply won't want to leave.
At Silky Oaks Lodge there is no effort required to discover the magic of the rainforest. It's all around you.
Yet from the comfort of the Lodge there's no sense of 'roughing it'. In fact, the only challenge you're likely to encounter is deciding what to choose from the menu.
And whether you're dining in the restaurant, or relaxing in the lounge, at Silky Oaks there's a special brand of service. Attentive, yet unobtrusive. Silky Oaks Lodge is the essence of the Daintree.

AUSTRALIAN WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE
Australian
Wilderness Experience operates unique environmental guided tours
to the Daintree River and Cape Tribulation. Featuring expert naturalist
guides and small group sizes, Australian Wilderness Experience is
famous for bringing visitors from all over the world closer to the
wonders of this World Heritage region.
One of the finest ways
to explore Tropical North Queensland is a well-planned tour with
a small group of like-minded people. In a comfortable, air-conditioned
vehicle, accompanied by an experienced local guide, you embark on
a fascinating journey looking, listening and learning about the
marvelous bird, animal and plant life in the World Heritage-listed
Cape Tribulation and the Daintree rainforest.
Australian Wilderness Experience (AWE) gives visitors exclusive access to areas that contain some of finest examples of bushland and ancient, pristine rainforest. An expert naturalist guide leads the tours, providing interesting commentaries sourced from their studies, intertwined with lively personal anecdotes.
Tours take visitors through very different environments: the ancient rainforest of the Daintree National Park; the deserted beauty of Myall Beach; the bushland regions of Mt Lewis and the rugged majestic beauty of Cape Tribulation.
Each of the tours has a distinctive focus. All include guided walks through areas selected for their natural beauty and significance, whether eco or historic, barbecue lunch at AWE's private base camp on the edge of Myall Creek - a superb swimming spot year round, a walk along an unspoilt beach and high tea at Silky Oaks Lodge. Here at the Treehouse Restaurant, trees replace the walls, offering uninterrupted views through the rainforest to the nearby Mossman River.
AWE also offers an Australian Natural History experience that goes to the Thylogale Nature Reserve, rainforest and mountain stream areas, Mt Lewis World Heritage area and the Eucalypt Woodlands of the Queensland outback further west.
Private charter tours are available, including The Mareeba Wetlands & Outback interpretive tour offering a classic Australian-style lunch in the bush and a ride on the Skyrail cable car from Kuranda. The Kuranda Skyrail & Black Mountain Track charter combines comfortable air-conditioned travel through the rainforest with a ride on the Skyrail and lunch at Silky Oaks Lodge. The Bloomfield Track tour will particularly appeal to people who want a comfortable tour that gives them the opportunity to experience a river cruise in the crisp early morning air.
